As a personal trainer, what was the most difficult aspect when you first started?
For me, it was understanding the best way to verbally/physically queue a client to perform the desired movement. You can tell someone to "tuck their hips" all you want, but it it takes much more than that to get a client to internalize what it actually feels like to move their body in that manner.
How did Elias contribute to your development?
Elias taught me the importance of showing a client how to develop the mind-body connection when activating different muscle groups. Basic compound movements can be quite demanding and effective for clients if you properly teach them how to hone the mental connection that is necessary to truly activate a muscle group. Elias also helped show me how to keep a client engaged throughout the whole teaching process, both inside and outside of training sessions.
What did you learn from Elias after working with him?
Besides learning the art of training others to move properly, Elias showed me a very effective system for gaining and retaining clients. I learned a very effective methodology for how to sell yourself, your training style, and its benefits to others and how to follow up with potential clients to maximize your customer base.
How would you describe working with Elias?
Elias is great to work with. He is extremely interested in helping others develop and is a mentor above all else. He strives for constant improvement in his own practice and makes sure to pass on any lessons he has learned to those he is developing.
How does Elias stand out from other trainers you have worked with?
Elias is rare among trainers in that he is a perfectionist. He is also 100% engaged at all times, whether it is with a client or a trainer protege. His foremost concern is that what he is saying or teaching is being received and internalized by the other person, and that the other person is also constantly improving.
What do you like about training with Elias?
Elias has amassed a wealth of knowledge about sales, training, and communication techniques, and training with Elias provides a fantastic opportunity to absorb that knowledge and incorporate it into your own practice.
